A leading hotel in Sri Lanka suddenly had a sharp drop of its occupancy. The management could not find any reason. It went on for about an year, the hotel was on the verge of closing down until suddenly a cross connection of hotels telephone system over heard a telephone conversation by its reservation staff saying "sorry we are fully booked. Would you please try our sister hotel ........" The executive was perturbed as to why the reservation is diverting its guests to another hotel. Investigations were initiated and telephones were tapped. The management found to its utter surprise the reservation staff were diverting its guests to another hotel in town for higher commission.
